Anthony Bourdain absolutely loved Italy. He loved the Italian people, Italian cities, and yes, the food. It’s no secret that Tony often said he wished he was Italian, and wished he had an Italian Nonna. He made numerous trips there, and as we love Italy & Italian food, we loved Anthony Bourdain and were and are big fans. So, yes this is an Italian Travel Guide / Cookbook, and Anthony Bourdain was not Italian, though he loved Italy, Italians, and Italian food. So as we loved Tony, as millions of people all around the World, we’d like to honor and pay tribute to Anthony Bourdain, in our (my) own small way, by writing of Tony’s food times and happy adventures in our beloved Italy. And do we go.

Anthony Bourdain asks Asia Argento, “How long have you been coming here?” She replies, “Since I was a kid. I used to love it as a child. It’s comforting.The food is always the same. Grandma makes it. It’s always her cooking. She makes fettuccine fresh.
Tony says, “Rome is a place where you find the most extraordinary pleasures, in the most ordinary places. Like this place. Which I’m not ever going to tell you the name of. Asia has been here forever. She brings her kids here. So I’m not going to screw it up for her.
They eat Fettuccine Pomodoro sprinkled with Pecorino Romano, and drink local red wine. Asia says, “It’s good. children's food. Isn’t it comforting?”

My favorite Italian delicacies to indulge in are . . . There’s a place that does a nice shellfish tower in the nearby town of Desenzano. I eat pizza everywhere. I indulge in massive amounts of local salumi, Lombardian wines, linguine vongole, and the occasional massive bistecca Fiorentina. Though I rarely eat desserts ordinarily, on vacation I am susceptible to frequent trips to the gelateria. And Negronis. I drink way too many Negronis.
